Youth Mentorship
​The VCAN Youth Collective is empowering young people across Valencia County to become leaders, advocates, and changemakers in their communities. VCAN Youth volunteer at food distributions and community gardens that help feed local families while building stronger and more resilient community food systems. They also take part in the New Mexico State Legislative Session, meet directly with city, county, state, and U.S. legislators, and gain firsthand experience in advocacy, leadership, and civic engagement.

The VCAN Youth Collective also participates in health initiatives, community health clinics, mental health awareness activities, wellness workshops, public health outreach, and hands-on community service projects that create healthier and stronger communities. Youth also engage in food justice efforts that increase access to healthy food, support local agriculture, and promote sustainable food systems across Valencia County. Through these experiences, youth gain real-world skills, build connections, and become active leaders in creating positive change.
VCAN also creates fun, safe, and inspiring spaces where youth can explore art walks, experience live music and culture, connect with nature, protect the environment, and participate in positive activities with their peers. Whether through creativity, community events, outdoor experiences, or civic action, VCAN encourages youth to explore their passions, build friendships, and discover new opportunities while strengthening their quality of life.
